Shenzhen, China: Structural health monitoring of skyscrapers
SmartSolo Scientific data loggers and thousands of sensors monitor the building's structural health

Formerly known as KingKey Financial Center, with a total of 100 floors and a height of 441.8 meters, Jingji 100 is currently the second tallest building in Shenzhen. It is located in Shennan East Road, Luohu District, Shenzhen. It was jointly designed by TFP and ARUP, two internationally renowned architectural design firms from the UK. China Construction No. 4 Engineering Bureau Co., LTD. The total land area of Jingji 100 urban complex project is 42353.96 m2, among which the construction land is 35990.16m2 and the total construction area is 60,2401.75 m2. It is composed of Jingji 100 buildings and 7 resettlement buildings.

The skyscraper structural health monitoring system must be fully automated and capable of sending data to the contractor's office. The system was designed to analyze changes in the stress-strain state of the foundation. Due to the complexity of the project and the engineering challenges involved, a system capable of measuring more than a thousand strain gauges was required.

SmartSolo Scientific is responsible for the design and deployment of the strain gauge monitoring system. The deployment of these systems is divided into six phases. We built the data collection node using the M8000 data logger and peripherals. Data from each node can be collected to the cloud platform through 4G communication modules. Data acquisition nodes include the M8000 data logger and Geokon 4200 strain gauge. Each data acquisition node is equipped with a 4G communication module. The wireless communication module saves cable connection costs and greatly increases the flexibility of node installation position, without being restricted by the location of Ethernet cards. This solution reduces the possibility of cable damage during construction, simplifies maintenance, and allows for rapid changes in the location of data acquisition nodes. For VW sensor-based monitoring, SmartSolo's cloud platform is not only a terminal for data collection, but also provides customers with professional advice and maintenance solutions for building structural health based on VW spectrum analysis.

Achievements:

The skyscraper structural health monitoring system provided by SmartSolo Scientific can not only manage all the instruments and data in the system, but also provide spectrum analysis of strain data and professional advice. This system can greatly reduce the influence of external noise. This scheme saves the cable connection cost significantly, and makes the node installation position flexibility greatly increased, without being restricted by the location of Ethernet card. This solution reduces the possibility of cable damage during construction, simplifies maintenance, and allows for rapid changes in the location of data acquisition nodes.
